Meera is an Alumni from Pusa Institute (Indian Institute of Hotel Management & Nutrition Technology), Delhi and a Post Graduate from the Oberoi School of Learning & Development, Delhi.
She is an accomplished & forward thinking professional in the service & logistics industry who was instrumental in building brand Gati as one of the most admired brands in the logistics industry.
She is also the only woman entrepreneur who successfully spearheaded the commissioning of the first 110 MW hydel power project in the state of Sikkim. Meera has a deep affection for Northeast India, having been raised in Sikkim. Her vision is to create a secure, professional organization that offers upskilling and employment opportunities to young men and women from Northeast and rural India who may lack prospects in urban areas.
Currently Meera is focusing on building Brand Avaan which addresses retail logistics challenges with innovative and sustainable solutions. Her company Avaan Excess - a disruptor in the excess baggage segment offering retail package & excess baggage solutions globally, received the Best Innovation Startup Award from ET Now and was also recognized as one of the 10 best Hyderabad based women start-ups in the year 2022 by Silicon India.
A philanthropist, artist, and art connoisseur, she pioneered the concept of Affordable Art through her foundation, "Affordable Art with a Heart" (www.artwithaheart.in), a 100% not-for-profit charity. The foundation serves as a platform to promote differently-abled children and budding artists. Meera's charitable endeavors extend to supporting Lepcha Cottage in Sikkim, a home for needy children, and Kinder Trust in Coonoor, a rehabilitation center for differently-abled children and adults.
Meera has been honored with several awards, including the Woman of Worth Award at the World Women Leadership Congress, the ET Inspiring Women Leaders Award, and the Women Achiever Award from MSME. Her accomplishments also include a featured TEDx talk, where she shared her insights and experiences with a global audience.
Meera is an author of two coffee table books - ‘Mystic Shangrila’ and ‘An Ode to Sikkim’. Both these books are an ode to her childhood and youth spent in Sikkim.
